The burden of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD) falls disproportionately on the populations of older adults who are from under-represented backgrounds. Research on minority aging to understand racial/ethnic disparities in AD/ADRD and to develop interventions and preventive strategies to reduce cognitive impairment and dementia risk is urgently needed. A goal of this renewal Johns Hopkins Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center for Minority Aging Research application is to train and support early- stage investigators from diverse backgrounds who are carrying out ADRD-relevant research that supports cognitive health and well-being in older adults from under-represented backgrounds.
