USC Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease Related Dementias Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (USC AD/ADRD RCMAR)
USC Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer’s Disease Related Dementias Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (USC AD/ADRD RCMAR) was established through funding from the National Institutes of Health and aims to increase the number, diversity and academic success of junior faculty focusing their research on the health and economic wellbeing of minority elderly populations. The centers interdisciplinary faculty has the support and expertise to advance research in focus areas: pathways through which social, behavioral, environmental and economic factors, as well as policies and health systems, affect disparities in the risk of AD/ADRD and impact the health, healthcare, and economic outcomes of people living with dementia. It is part of a nationwide network of NIH-funded Alzheimer’s disease-focused Resource Centers for Minority Aging Research (AD-RCMAR).
USC AD/ADRD RCMAR funds three junior investigators annually, providing structured mentorship and $40,000 pilot award. Principle Investigators: Drs. Julie Zissimopoulos, Jennifer Ailshire and Emma Aguila.
