The Johns Hopkins Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (JHAD-RCMAR) is a collaboration between the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Located within the School of Public Health, JHAD-RCMAR is part of a national initiative funded by the National Institutes of Health to address Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, particularly in minority aging populations.

Our mission is to empower junior or senior investigators (who have not received an R01 or who are newly transitioning to ADRD and minority aging research), including post-doctoral fellows on track for promotion to at least Research Associate, by providing mentorship and support in research focused on cognitive health and well-being for minority older adults. We aim to enhance the diversity of the aging research workforce and foster sustained careers in this vital field.

JHAD-RCMAR is committed to developing the infrastructure necessary for advancing research on health disparities, integrating perspectives from individuals, families, and communities. By leveraging the interdisciplinary resources of Johns Hopkins University, we emphasize epidemiological and intervention research with a life course approach. Our goal is to generate impactful studies that contribute to high-quality publications and ultimately secure long-term funding for minority aging research.

Each year, JHAD-RCMAR supports three junior or senior scientists by funding pilot research focused on the clinical, psychosocial, or health services aspects of Minority Aging, Alzheimer’s Disease, Related Disorders (ADRD), and Health Disparities.
