Dr. Mao is an Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from Georgia Tech. Her research focuses on how genetics and environment (socioeconomics) interact to influence metabolic syndrome and chronic diseases like heart disease, NAFLD, and ADRD, especially in Mexican American families. She has also explored topics in investment decisions, controlling corruption, and improving energy efficiency across Europe.
