In this week’s Scientist Highlights, we feature Ángela Gutiérrez, PhD, MPH, who became a San Diego AD-RCMAR Scientist in 2021. Dr. Gutiérrez’s RCMAR pilot project is “Stress Exposure and Cognition among Older Latino Adults: The Mediating and Moderating Role of Psychosocial Resources”. Her three interdisciplinary lines of research focus on: (1) risk, resilience, and coping among middle-aged and older Latinx and Black Americans with chronic health conditions; (2) the role of psychosocial factors in shaping cognitive function among Latinx adults; and (3) community-based and culturally informed health research among under-resourced communities.
