In this week’s Scientist Highlights, we feature Salim Hayek, MD, who became a Michigan Center for Contextual Factors in Alzheimer’s Disease (MCCFAD) RCMAR Scientist in 2019. Dr. Hayek is an expert in translational science, risk prediction, biomarkers, vascular function, stem cell therapy amongst other fields. His research focuses on finding novel strategies in identifying patients at risk of cancer therapy-related cardiotoxicity, understanding the link between heart and kidney disease, and leveraging high-throughput technologies such as metabolomics and genomics in patient care in order to personalize treatment according to each person’s unique characteristics and optimizing their care.
